There's a kind of wedding that feels less like an event and more like a dream you've stepped inside.
This Kansas City wedding inspiration editorial at La Villa KC was exactly that. Nestled between the Plaza and Westport neighborhoods in a beautifully restored Spanish-architecture venue, La Villa provided the most romantic backdrop for a day built around swans, willow trees, silver details, lace, and vintage elegance.
Soft. Ethereal. Completely unforgettable.
At Paxton Dawson Creative Co., this shoot was a milestone. Not only did we bring our personalization artistry and fabric signage to the day — we also debuted our Wedding Keepsake Box for the very first time, creating curated boxes for both a bride and a groom. And the journals. Oh, the journals.
Here's a look at everything we created.
The Hot Foiled Leather Journals
The centerpiece of our contribution to this shoot was something we had never done before — and it may be our favorite thing we've ever made.
Beautiful light blue leather journals, each one adorned with intricate swan and floral details on the cover, were hand hot foiled in real time. The intention behind them was pure romance: journals for a couple to write their love story in — a keepsake to fill with memories from the very beginning.
To display them, we created a beautiful glass and gold shelf dressed with soft greenery. Finished journals were placed on the shelf as they were completed, creating a living, growing display that guests could admire throughout the event. It was part personalization experience, part installation art.
The Fabric Signage
The just married chair signs for the reception were made in sheer and lace — soft, romantic, and completely at home in the whimsical, vintage aesthetic of the day.
Set against the king and family-style tables with their beautifully layered, whimsical tablescapes, the chair signs brought the same intentional detail to the couple's seats that defined every other element of the celebration.
The Wedding Keepsake Box — A First Look
This shoot marked the official launch of the Wedding Keepsake Box — and we couldn't have imagined a more perfect setting for its debut.
We created two complete keepsake boxes: one for the bride, and one for the groom. Each one was thoughtfully curated, personalized by hand, beautifully packaged in a luxury magnetic keepsake box with a custom ribbon detail, and styled into the flat lay photography of the day.
For the bride — perfume bottle, compact mirror, and pieces that would sit on her vanity long after the wedding was over. For the groom — pieces that were refined, personal, and meaningful in their own right.
The keepsake box was designed to be the most thoughtful wedding gift you could give or receive. This shoot proved exactly that.
The Engraved Cake Cutting Set
To complete the day, we created a beautifully engraved cake cutting set — personalized to complement the vintage aesthetic of the celebration and the whimsical elegance of the cake itself.
The kind of piece you frame a photo of. The kind you keep in a drawer and take out again years later.
